Hey {{First Name | there}},

This week’s security headline is PHP2Shell. Wiz Research disclosed flaws in core PHP, which it says powers about 70% of websites, and patches landed on October 21.

Patching is IT’s job, and none of the tools below fix it.

But it’s a reminder that sensitive data leaks from places nobody was watching, and most of the time it’s a well-meaning employee, not a hacker. Three tools for the people side of data leaks: one that cleans up your chat, one that guards the exits, and one that tells the story when something goes wrong.

👇 Scroll below for TOOLiee’s Pick of the Day, tools we think are actually worth your time.

🧠 Here's a TOOLiee Fun Fact!

Negligent employees cause 53% of insider incidents, and insider incidents cost organisations an average of $10.3 million a year, according to Ponemon’s 2026 Cost of Insider Risks report. Criminal or malicious insiders account for just 27%. Most leaks are mistakes, not plots.

💡 Knowledge Bytes

  • 📌 Each incident costs an average of $747,107, and the study’s average was 13.8 negligent incidents.

  • 📌 Size doesn’t protect you. Organisations with fewer than 500 employees still spent an average of $8.9 million on insider incidents.

  • 📌 Wiz says the PHP flaws can let attackers read server memory, where passwords, tokens, and API keys can sit. Ask IT whether your careers page and any PHP-based sites have been updated.

Stop typing what you could say in 10 seconds.

Wispr Flow turns your voice into clean, professional text inside any app. Emails, Slack, client updates: speak once, send without editing. 4x faster than typing. Works on Mac, Windows, iPhone, and Android.

1️⃣ Nightfall AI

Cloud-native DLP that connects to Slack, Teams, Jira, and other SaaS apps, scans for sensitive data in real time, and cleans it up before it sits in your chat history forever.

Why HRs love Nightfall AI

  • 📌 Catches the stuff people paste without thinking: API keys, passwords, customer data, and personal information in chats and tickets.

  • 📌 Fixes it automatically with redaction or deletion, so nobody has to scroll through old threads hunting for leaks.

  • 📌 Nudges the employee in Slack, Teams, or email, so a mistake becomes a lesson instead of an incident.

  • 📌 Connects through APIs, so there’s no agent to roll out for your chat tools.

2️⃣ Forcepoint DLP

Enterprise DLP that follows sensitive data across endpoints, cloud apps, email, web, and removable drives, with behaviour-based controls that tighten or relax depending on user risk.

Why HRs love Forcepoint DLP

  • 📌 Guards the exits, scanning data leaving through cloud apps, email, browsers, printers, and USB drives.

  • 📌 Covers GenAI too, with controls over what employees paste into tools like ChatGPT, Copilot, and Gemini.

  • 📌 Risk-Adaptive Protection scores user behaviour and adjusts enforcement, so trusted employees aren’t blocked by rules written for high-risk cases.

  • 📌 Ships with 1,700+ predefined classifiers and policy templates for regulations, so you’re not writing every rule from scratch.

3️⃣ Proofpoint Insider Threat Management

Insider threat platform built on ObserveIT that ties user activity to data movement and turns technical logs into timelines non-technical teams can follow.

Why HRs love Proofpoint ITM

  • 📌 Shows who did what, when, and where in a plain timeline, with screenshots for context.

  • 📌 Built for cross-team investigations, so HR, legal, compliance, and security can work from the same case.

  • 📌 Covers careless, malicious, and compromised users, not just bad actors, which matches where most incidents actually come from.

  • 📌 Proofpoint positions it as privacy by design, which matters before anything that looks like employee monitoring goes live.
